The final country of a four-country trip, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the journey to New Zealand for the last leg of the tour.

"I knew at the onset I wanted a bateau neckline, I wanted a cropped sleeve, I wanted a very timeless, classic feeling", she said.

There were tears and applause as the royal couple were showered with gifts, including a New Zealand "Buzzy Bee" toy, which Harry held aloft to the delight of the crowd.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were given a traditional Maori welcome. Asked what sports they played, the kids listed them off: cricket, rugby, hockey, netball, basketball.

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, clearly loved the all boys choir's performance, so much so the expectant mother ended up wiping away happy tears.

Department of Conservation ranger Andrew Lamason will be showing Harry and Meghan around the park's bays and says he will talk to them about conservation efforts in the area.

Minnie Newman, an 11-year-old from Kelburn Girl Guides, said she was impressed with Meghan.

The Buninyong Public School student, who has Down Syndrome, charmed the socks off the Royal couple, even giving Prince Harry's ginger beard a gentle tug during an interaction that melted hearts across the world.

"You can tell she really cares", added Hawke.

A Government House representative later said it was a false alarm caused by a vegetable steamer in the kitchen.

"What protocol! During the walkabout, Harry and Meghan stopped to take a photo with Wellington locals Sophie Hubbard and Hope Watson, both 10".

They were greeted at the airport by Prime Minister Jacinda Arden, having flown in from Australia with the Kiwi Invictus team.

The prince and Megan on Saturday attended the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games, the Olympic style sporting event for wounded soldiers that he helped found.

Royal fans have watched Prince William and Prince Harry's brotherly bond strengthen over the years, as they've grown into fine leaders and started royal families of their own.

"Everyone needs someone to turn to, right?" he said.

The couple were at the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park, where they laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, and the duke was presented with a Badge in Gold by the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services' Association (RSA) to recognise his work with veterans. "It would be a good opportunity for them to come back with the newborn baby".
