The winning numbers were 3, 21, 45, 53, 56, and the Powerball was 22.

The Powerball jackpot for the Saturday, Oct. 27, drawing is $750 million.

The patient was brought to the hospital after he'd been hurt trying to buy a lottery ticket, so the employees, while taking care of his injuries, also took care of getting him a ticket.

The $750 million prize refers to the annuity option, paid annually over 29 years.

New Jersey hospital workers who helped an elderly patient become a Mega Millions lottery victor told Inside Edition they wanted to do something special for him. It's not immediately clear if there is a victor for the fourth-largest jackpot in US history. The ticket was sold in Simpsonville, South Carolina, at a KC Mart convenience store, Mayor Janice Curtis said.

Patel says he has no idea who bought the winning ticket for Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing.

The jaw-dropping jackpot failed to break the record for lottery winnings, held by the $1.586 billion Powerball prize in January 2016.

The Virginia Lottery said in a statement that the chances of matching the first five numbers in Mega Millions are 1 in 12,607,306.

Each Powerball ticket is $2.

States receive a percentage of lottery ticket sales and use the money to support public schools or to meet other needs.
