Brett Kavanaugh got into a college bar fight after seeing UB40

Brett Kavanaugh's classmate Lynne Brookes says he lied Three Yale Classmates of Brett Kavanaugh Say He Lied Under Oath About His Drinking and Behavior: WATCH

Over the weekend, Chad Ludington, a college professor, said that he would deliver a statement to the Federal Bureau of Investigation field office in Raleigh, North Carolina, claiming that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh lied when he testified before Congress that he was not a heavy drinker.

The New York Times obtained a police report of the incident, which took place at a local Yale bar in 1985.

The incident, which occurred in September 1985 during Mr. Kavanaugh's junior year, resulted in Mr. Kavanaugh and four other men being questioned by the New Haven Police Department. Kavanaugh's basketball teammate friend Chris Dudley, who went on to play in the NBA, allegedly threw a glass at the man, cutting his ear.

The alleged victim "who was bleeding from the right ear" was treated at a nearby hospital, the paper reported.

The police report reported that it was ice, not a bottle, but law enforcement was alerted, and Kavanaugh - who attended a prep school with its own nine-hole golf course - was questioned but not arrested. When the man told them to stop looking at him, Kavanaugh allegedly threw his beer in his face, and a bar fight ensued. Ludington claimed he often saw Kavanaugh "belligerent and aggressive" while drunk.

Democrat senators then suggested that Mr Kavanaugh's drinking may explain why he had no recollection of the incident.

As the investigation is not a criminal one, the FBI will not say whether it believes the allegations are true.

When asked about Judge Kavanaugh's drinking habits during a news conference on Monday, Mr Trump said he thought his answers during the hearing were "excellent". "I know that Brett mischaracterized himself, and it's incredibly disappointing that despite that this man could be elevated to the Supreme Court".

Ms Swetnick says she went to house parties attended by Mr Kavanaugh in the early 1980s, where she said he and his friends had tried to "spike" girls' drinks.

Kavanaugh before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by three different women, denied in his testimony that there was any possibility he ever drank so much alcohol that he may have lapses in his memory.

The FBI is investigating the allegations and will present its findings to the Senate by Friday.

Swisher describes befriending Kavanaugh during her freshman year.

Kavanaugh has categorically denied any and all accusations, saying last week this was a targeted attack against him motivated Democrats' resentments. It's unclear whether Kavanaugh was a fan of the band during his time at Yale, or whether it was pure coincidence that they became involved in an altercation related to the band.
