A US Border Patrol agent has been arrested in the state of Texas on suspicion of killing four prostitutes reports say

"We do consider this to be a serial killer", said Webb County District Attorney Isidro Alaniz.
Ortiz reportedly fled from state troopers before being arrested in the parking lot of a Laredo hotel.
Cuellar said his department has "very strong evidence" to believe Ortiz killed the women, who he said were sex workers.
Alaniz and his office have referred to the slayings as "serial killings".
Mr Alaniz said investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the killings, and that they believe Ortiz acted alone.
Officials on Sunday released this mugshot of the 10-year Border Patrol veteran, now in gray-striped jail attire, staring straight ahead, expressionless. However, when the suspect pulled a gun on the woman inside his vehicle, she fled and was able to contact police.
The last body was found Saturday after Ortiz told officers where to look. Ortiz provided a "voluntary verbal confession" to all four murders and Pena's attempted kidnapping and aggravated assault, according to the affidavit.

Affidavits acquired by the Laredo Morning Times say the first body was located September 4 and a second victim was found alive Thursday morning, but died at a hospital.
Alaniz described how the Customs and Border Patrol intel supervisor continued going to work as usual throughout that time. She had been shot multiple times in the head, according to the affidavit.
Authorities didn't disclose the victims' names or nationalities but said they may have been prostitutes.

"Our sincerest condolences go out to the victims' family and friends". The border city about 145 miles (235 kilometers) southwest of San Antonio.
"It's super unfortunate and tragic", Alaniz said. CBP says in a statement that while it is the agency's policy not to comment on an ongoing investigation, "criminal activity by our employees is not, and will not be tolerated".
