CBS's Les Moonves Becomes Most Powerful Exec Felled by #MeToo

CBS reaches deal with CEO Leslie Moonves amid new sexual harassment claims Six More Woman Accuse CBS CEO Les Moonves of Sexual Assault

He wrote that "six additional women have accused the television executive of sexual misconduct, as the board of the CBS Corporation weighs the terms of his departure".

Anita Hill, the chair of a commission on sexual harassment and inequality in Hollywood, said CBS' next permanent CEO will be invited to fill the slot vacated by Leslie Moonves, the longtime chief of the network who resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct. Some alleged he forced them to perform oral sex on him, forcibly kissed them, exposed himself to unwilling participants and put the careers of those that rebuffed his advances in jeopardy.

Some sources close to Moonves said in August that he had vowed to fight both the allegations of wrongdoing and the legal war against Redstone.

Moonves was removed from those top posts on Sunday, after new allegations of sexual misconduct and assault surfaced.

The stock price remains about 4% lower than it was in late July, when The New Yorker published its first detailed article examining the Moonves allegations.

Moonves, 68, joined CBS in 1995 and became CEO in 2006. When Julie Chen returns to CBS this week to host her other show, she won't have to answer to the stars of the show because the Big Brother cast is sequestered and have no clue what is going on with her husband.

Ten months ago, Norah O'Donnell had the hard job of reporting on the ouster of her "CBS This Morning" co-host Charlie Rose because of sexual misconduct allegations. She's been someone who I admire and respect greatly.

O'Donnell said that she had chose to repeat her earlier words after speaking with co-host Gayle King, who was off on Monday. "Phylils said, 'Who would believe me?" CBS was already investigating Moonves for similar accusations made by six other women.

In a statement to the magazine, Moonves said, "The appalling accusations in this article are untrue". He said he had never used his position to hurt the careers of women.

He continued: "In my 40 years of work, I have never before heard of such disturbing accusations". I didn't know what was going to happen to me, ' she said.

On The Talk premiere, co-host Sharon Osbourne announced that Chen will take some time off to be with her family in the aftermath of Moonves' resignation from CBS amid rampant sexual misconduct allegations.

The network also announced five members of its board will be replaced with new directors. They accuse Moonves of abuses including forcing them to take part in sexual acts.

"The donation, which will be made immediately, has been deducted from any severance benefits that may be due Moonves", the statement said. "We will accept nothing less than full transparency of the investigation's findings, a commitment to real change across all levels of CBS management and no reward for Les Moonves".

"[Ms. Redstone has said] the biggest obstacle was the presence of Les Moonves, so when CBS attempted to dilute the voting power of the Redstone stock ... they own 79 percent of CBS", Napolitano said. He has steered top projects such as the CBS All Access and Showtime streaming services.
