National Security Adviser John Bolton, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, FBI Director Christopher Wray, Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen and the commander of the US Cyber Command, Gen. Paul M. Nakasone, attend a briefing at the White House on Thursday.

Christopher Wray, the Federal Bureau of Investigation director and another of several security chiefs making a rare public appearance at the White House, added: "Russia attempted to interfere with the last election and continues to engage in malign influence operations to this day".

Coats added the United States continues to see "a pervasive messaging campaign by Russian Federation to try to weaken and divide the United States", in regards to the midterm elections.

Coats told reporters that the intelligence community "continues to be concerned about the threats of upcoming US elections, both the midterms and the presidential elections of 2020".

FBI Director Wray said the Federal Bureau of Investigation has instituted a new foreign influence task force created to identify and counteract the "full range of malign foreign influence operations", targeting United States democratic institutions and values.

"Russian Collusion with the Trump Campaign, one of the most successful in history, is a TOTAL HOAX", the president said Wednesday.

We know that through the decades Russian Federation "has used propaganda to sow discord in America".

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is scheduled to hold a briefing today at around10 AM PT, though she's usually fashionably late. "They want us to distrust and defeat each other.' And if that was their goal, and I believe that it was, I believe they have been very effective", he said.

A senior US official said the Russian meddling campaign had accelerated and grown more sophisticated since the 2016 election and was not directed at boosting one political party over another.

Mr Coats claimed that: "The President has specifically directed us to make the matter of election meddling a top priority and we are doing that".

The White House pushed back Wednesday on the notion that President Donald Trump obstructed justice with a morning tweet saying Attorney General Jeff Sessions should "stop" the Justice Department's Russian Federation election meddling probe "right now".

Mr Giuliani also told reporters the president's legal team was in the middle of ongoing negotiations with Mueller, as a report in The Washington Post said the special counsel had offered to reduce the number of questions in exchange for a sit-down interview.

"This is about exploiting the fault lines that exist in our society and building on what was done in 2016, and it isn't confined to the internet - it includes print and television, as well, in some cases using existing platforms that predate the 2016 election", the official said.
