It's so fascinating to see an individual transform into being of light, a source of positivity and an energy that is in sync with the rest of the universe.

The first International Day of Yoga was observed all over the world on June 21, 2015, where more than 30,000 people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, performed yoga asanas at Rajpath in New Delhi.

Yoga is thus everywhere in India now. Moreover, doing yoga regularly improves the immune system, thereby reducing the risk of frequent cough and cold, body ache and fever.

Let us know in the comment section below.

Yoga "is enriching millions of lives all over the world", Modi said in a speech.

Yoga has also been credited to reduce the risk of chronic ailments like diabetes, hypertension, hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS in women) by regulating metabolism and keeping all the organs of the body healthy and fit.

Earlier the record turnout was around 5,000 a year ago.

The word yoga is derived from Sanskrit as the word yoga. Even though the country has scaled many heights of urbanization, it has done so while being rooted in its traditions and culture.

On the occasion, the participants performed various yoga postures following the instruction of yoga gurus.

The Prime Minister had arrived here on Wednesday night to participate in the main event on the International Yoga Day.

Harcharen Vaz, an Indian education professional, said: "I started off with power yoga past year and had been practising it aggressively".

Further, in Cape Town, a group of young people performed yoga on its historic Table Mountain.

Sessions on yoga and meditation were organised by various government agencies, educational institutions and service organisations across the districts. More than 500 officers, staff of the Rashtrapati Bhavan and their family members as well as residents of the President's Estate participated in the event.

For this unique effort, New York State Assembly honoured Dr Chandra on the eve of International Day of Yoga.

"Beyond exercise and health, yoga is about life, self-awareness and a connect with your soul". It is a constant self-improving, self-nourishing source that helps you evolve to your highest self.
