England's Kyle Walker says VAR a 'cloudy situation' at World Cup

Despite dealing with the absence of Dele, dislocating his shoulder and the team leak, Southgate is still feeling positive about England's start to the World Cup.

The 22-year-old Tottenham star has been struggling with a thigh injury since the Tunisia game, missing consecutive days of training, and it appears that Southgate may not be willing to risk him unnecessarily.

The coach was treated in a nearby hospital and admitted afterwards that he will have to control his behaviour during his side's coming games.

Southgate said jokingly; "I might not be celebrating any goals as athletically in future!"

After the Three Lions sealed a last-gasp 2-1 win against Tunisia in Monday's World Cup opener, preparations are under way for Sunday's game in Nizhny Novgorod.

"I mean I think always from the type of training that we do they have a good idea and clearly we had a team that played very well and won".

They next face Panama in their second Group G fixture at lunchtime on Sunday.

It isn't just the players who get injuries during the World Cup.

"It's not going to help us because all the rest of the world has now seen that team", said defender Kyle Walker.

OK, whilst all of the England fans out there breathe slowly and deeply into a paper bag, let's move on to exactly how the England manager managed to injure himself so badly. We have leafcutter ants in one glass box and they get their food in another.

Two of the insects raced along 36 metres of rope carrying Panama and England flags respectively, with the red and white of St George making it back to the queen fastest.

"But I would say playing League One for numerous years is a lot more physical than the Premier League".

"We're trying not to get caught up in articles and things like that".

"Obviously any time, if we were to give the opposition the opportunity of having our team it's a disadvantage to us", he said.

Southgate has been well aware of the taxing conditions but they acclimatised in Volgograd - although this game kicks off at 3pm local time, six hours hours earlier than against Tunisia.

Kane could have won England at least two penalties from corners, but referee Wilmar Roldan failed to notice the incidents.
