The cover features a stone-faced Trump staring down at the now-famous 2-year-old Honduran girl from the viral photo of her crying as her mother is searched by a border patrol agent.

According to TIME, the image will be the July 2, 2018 cover of the magazine.

The issue carries the simple coverline, "Welcome to America".

President Trump has since signed an executive order that reserves his administrations' policy of separating children from their detained parents at the border.

The iconic image was taken by Getty photographer John Moore, who captured the emotion of a two-year-old Honduran asylum seeker when she was separated from her family at the U.S. border with Mexico.

"And while Trump ultimately capitulated on the forced separation of children, his new order suggested that families would be detained not only together, but perhaps indefinitely".

The heart-wrenching image, captured by award-winning Getty Images photographer John Moore, was spread across the front pages of worldwide newspapers.

Time magazine's new cover places a crying immigrant girl at the feet of US President Donald Trump. As soon as it was over, they were put into a van. But while he claims no more children will be ripped from their parents at the US border moving forward, there will be no recourse for the thousands of families already torn apart. "Immediately I recognized her".

"I could see the fear on their faces and in their eyes".

He also said that he was employed: "I thank God that I have a good job here".

A Time story recounting the photographer's experience initially stated the girl was carried away screaming by border agents, and later corrected the article to say that was incorrect and that the two were actually taken away together.

Video footage of separated children sitting in cages, an audiotape of wailing children and Moore's photo had sparked worldwide anger over Trump's immigration policies.

Valera pushed back against the portrayal's of his daughter's story, saying it should not cast doubt on the "human rights violations" taking place at the border. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is executing the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy towards undocumented immigrants. And the separation from their parents is traumatic enough to be likened to torture.
