Roseanne Barr's racist tweet shouldn't have surprised ABC

She also said she was leaving Twitter.

Ms. Barr's revival of her hit show was pulled by ABC after she called former Obama White House advisor Valerie Jarrett a mash-up of the Muslim Brotherhood and "Planet of the Apes". "I just want to apologize to the hundreds of people, and wonderful writers (all liberal) and talented actors who lost their jobs on my show due to my stupid tweet".

Barr also revealed she would appear on Joe Rogan's podcast on Friday. She later deleted the tweet and tweeted an apology to Jarrett and "all Americans".

ABC's decision to cancel "Roseanne" after star Roseanne Barr made a racist remark on Twitter will cost the broadcast network tens of millions of dollars in advertising revenue, according to multiple estimates. I'm glad ABC decided that was too much, even though the network previously seemed fine holding her up as a star, contributing to the normalization of her xenophobia and outright craziness.

"Guys I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me", Barr wrote, after retweeting many fans who had been defending her. "Forgive me- my joke was in bad taste".

Lemon began the segment by pointing to some of Barr's many controversial statements in the past and suggesting these new comments from her - in which she compared Valerie Jarrett to an ape - are nothing new.

Barr's tweet on Tuesday may have been the straw that broke the camel's back, but there's a lot to understand about how exactly "Roseanne" came to an end. To Fishman, she wrote, "i created the platform for that inclusivity and you know http://it.ME".

ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said in a statement later in the day, "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have chose to cancel her show".

"I'm fine", she said. I am sorry for making a thoughtless joke that does not reflect my values - I love all people and am very sorry.

The TV network confirmed they would no longer run the show after Roseanne posted a racist tweet on Tuesday.

I'm glad she was wrong. I feel so empowered by @iamwandasykes, Channing Dungey and anyone at ABC standing up for morals and abuse of power.

"#Rosanne is who she tells you she is with every comment and tweet".
