On May 22, 2017, Grande had just left the stage at the Manchester Arena when police say suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated an explosive device, killing 22 people and injuring more than 100 others.

"Today my thoughts and prayers are with those who were lost on that awful night, their loved ones who have so bravely battled to rebuild their lives; those who have courageously fought to overcome physical injury or mental scars; our first responders and emergency services and those volunteers and professionals who are continuing to help this community heal", May wrote.

The school choir which accompanied Ariana Grande at the One Love Manchester benefit last summer (Jun17) were part of a massive city celebration on Tuesday (22May18).

"The targeting of the young and innocent as they enjoyed a carefree night out. was an act of sickening cowardice", Theresa May wrote in the city's paper the Manchester Evening News.

The American singer Grande, who visited the injured in hospital in the wake of the bombing and returned two weeks later to host a fund-raising concert, wrote on Twitter: "Thinking of you all today and every day I love you with all of me and am sending you all of the light and warmth I have to offer on this challenging day".

"It was created to strike at the heart of our values and our way of life in one of our most vibrant cities, with the aim of breaking our resolve and dividing us".

As the Inquisitr reported last week, Ariana Grande recently opened up about the tragic events that occurred following her concert.

Paul also paid tribute to soldier Lee Rigby, who was killed in a terrorist attack near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, London, five years ago on May 22, 2013.

Jack also recited words that Ariane Grande said in the aftermath of the tragedy a year ago.

Tens of thousands of people packed Albert Square to see celebrities send One Love video messages, including Manchester City's Vincent Kompany, United legend Ryan Giggs and Shaun Ryder from the Happy Mondays.

To mark the anniversary, scores of fans came together to hold a vigil, which saw them singing Ariana's latest single No Tears Left To Cry.

And at At 10.31pm, bells will ring out from the city's Town Hall, St Ann's Church and St Mary's RC Church to mark the moment when the attack took place 12 months ago.

Some laid bouquets of flowers in St. Ann's Square.
