Rob Goldstone/Facebook Goldstone also wrote that the information "is part of Russian Federation and its government's support for Mr. Trump". The meeting, and the administration's initial response to reports of it, have been a focus of the probe.

Rob Goldstone, who was a music promoter, arranged the meeting at the request of pop singer Emin Agalarov, and later said he thought the meeting was a "bad idea". Trump dismisses any talk of collusion. Goldstone also revealed that Veselnitskaya's apparently Clinton-free presentation in the meeting had "infuriated" Kushner.

Trump Jr. was asked directly about an email he sent to Goldstone prior to the meeting, after he was informed that Russians were offering "dirt" on Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. They show that Trump Jr. says he doesn't remember ever discussing the Russian Federation investigation at all with his father.

The Agalarovs had bonded with the Trumps during the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow.

Trump Jr. said he does not know if his father uses a blocked number, and does not know whether or not this blocked number could have been him.

Scaramucci says the email did not concern Goldstone's involvement in the controversial meeting.

Trump Jr. said he didn't speak to his father about the statement, though he acknowledged some of his father's comments to former White House aide Hope Hicks may have been included. Immediately before and after that mysterious phone call, Trump Jr. had spoken with Emin Agalarov - who helped broker the sitdown with the Russian attorney.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said it was clear to her that the younger Mr. Trump and others at the meeting went into it hoping Russian Federation would provide help, and they were "frustrated and angry that the meeting did not produce enough damaging information on their opponent".

Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer criticized the committee investigation as a sham.

"In the call at the end, [I said] that I believed it was a bad idea and that we shouldn't do it", Goldstone said.

"There is no doubt that Russian Federation undertook an unprecedented effort to interfere with our 2016 elections", Burr stated.

The documents cover more than 1,800 pages of transcripts of interviews with those connected to the controversial meeting that, when it was revealed, fueled allegations of Trump campaign coordination with Russian Federation.

But Graham and other lawmakers say they believe it's the special counsel investigation that has the best chance of getting to the bottom of the story. "Because I wouldn't bring him anything that's unsubstantiated, especially from a guy like Rob, before I knew what it was actually about myself", he told the panel. "That's what Mueller's there for".

He also didn't recall several emails and phone calls leading up to the meeting or even that a Russian American lobbyist attended.

"Let's get them out there for everyone to see", Grassley (R-Iowa) told reporters in January. He had retained a lawyer named Sergei Magnitsky who later died in a Moscow prison; he was said to have been mistreated and denied medical care.

"T$3 he Committee has found evidence of multiple contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian government officials or their intermediaries, including offers of assistance and purported overtures from Vladimir Putin", the statement said.

While Comey will not appear on Capitol Hill before the Senate, House Republicans have expressed renewed interest in questioning the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director about his interactions with Trump and past congressional testimony following his media blitz.

Trump jnr also met behind closed doors with the Senate Intelligence Committee.
