North Korea said on Saturday that it will dismantle its northeastern Punggye-ri test site between May 23 and 25 in the presence worldwide media.

If accurate, the analysis would show that North Korea has taken concrete steps to dismantle the Punggye-ri nuclear test site.

South Korea's president on Monday welcomed the announcement as the beginning of North Korea's nuclear disarmament.

A decade ago, the last time North Korea took talks with the U.S.so far, then-leader Kim Jong Il blew up a cooling tower at the Yongbyon nuclear plant as part of a deal to limit its weapons program.

The hermit state plans to shut down the test site between 23 and 25 May by using explosives to collapse the tunnels, and blocking all entrances to the site.

The analysis was made public before North Korea holds a ceremony for dismantling the Punggye-ri site between May 23 and May 25, depending on weather conditions, in the presence of global media.

A move like denuclearisation would conflict the integral power structure of North Korea, Thae added. Pompeo, speaking on CBS News' "Face the Nation" on Sunday said that the regime will benefit from private investment, not assistance from US taxpayers, in exchange for abandoning its nuclear weapon program.

The Foreign Ministry explained that journalists from Russia, UK, China, the Republic of Korea and the United States will be invited to the ceremony. "Thank you, a very smart and gracious gesture!" he tweeted.

The move is another notable step in North Korea's diplomatic charm offensive, which comes after a year of constant weapons testing and heated rhetoric between Washington and Pyongyang.

He has also been lobbying both Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in to raise the issue of abducted Japanese citizens during negotiations. This is what y consider to be experts of 38North specialized page following material obtained on May 7, approximately one week after Kim Jong-Un announced closure of base where six nuclear tests have been carried out.

In one of the first signs that Kim was willing to concede Punggye-ri, he announced last month that the site had "done its job".

In June 2008, global broadcasters were allowed to show the demolishing of a cooling tower at the Nyongbyon reactor site, a year after the North reached an agreement with the US and four other nations to disable its nuclear facilities in return for an aid package worth about $400 million.
