Police were called, and the viral video shows them pushing him against a window, choking him and slamming him to the ground.

"Get your hands off of me", Wall said, struggling to speak.

Wall did not immediately respond to messages from The Washington Post.

Police say employees called them because Clemons appeared to be drunk and witnesses say they were afraid of her behavior.

Several times throughout the video, Wall can be heard pleading with the officer, "Get your hands off me!"

Anthony Wall said all he wanted at the restaurant during his visit May 5th was better treatment. He was later charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Prominent leaders in the black community are speaking out on social media about the incident, with well-known figures like Rev. Al Sharpton and Bernice King, Martin Luther King Jr.'s youngest daughter, putting public pressure on Waffle House to improve its treatment of black customers in response to Wall's choking.

On April 22, a video showing Chikesia Clemons being wrestled to the ground by officers at a Waffle House in Saraland, Alabama went viral.

It is unclear whether the officer, who has not been identified, remains on duty while police investigate his use of force.

Warsaw police said they had begun an investigation, but did not offer further details.

"Our review of these incidents do not indicate race was an issue in the decision to call the police in either case", the statement said.

"We are aware of the video and now working on an investigation, following up based on the video posted, doing interviews, gathering video evidence", Southerland told the publication, noting that additional information would be released after the investigation wraps up. Video footage shows a loud argument between Wall, his sister and Waffle House employees.

The incident drew national interest after he posted a video of the encounter on Facebook, where it's been viewed almost a million times.

Coffee giant Starbucks is initiating such training later this month at more than 8,000 us stores after two black men were arrested at a Philadelphia store while waiting for a business meeting - an incident that touched off protests and led to a wider conversation about how people of color are treated in public spaces.

" 'I'll break your arm, that's what I'm about to do, ' an officer says".

In North Carolina, Southerland, the Warsaw police chief, said people should not conflate the narratives of different incidents in distant states.

"The officer made every effort to secure him so that the public would be safe", he said.
