Not long afterwards, Trump, using the phrase "Fake News", took to Twitter to suggest taking away the credentials of reporters who report negatively on him.

President Trump sent out a tweet that has many in the media concerned as it relates to access to the White House.

"Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy and all things else, 91 percent of the network news about me is negative (Fake, )" he tweeted.

"The Media Research Center studied all broadcast evening news coverage of the President from January 1 through April 30, and found 90 percent of the evaluative comments about Trump were negative".

"The President did it (took questions from the press) just a couple of hours ago and has made multiple sets of remarks and will be in front of the press later tonight as well", she added.

Donald Trump suggested taking away the credentials of reporters who write negative stories about him, Time is reporting. "At the same time, the press has a responsibility to put out accurate information". During that campaign, Trump took away press credentials from a few outlets that published uncomplimentary coverage.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders went for the bob-and weave-routine in the press room this afternoon to some hard questions.

She then called any possible action by the president to prevent the press from doing its job an "unconscionable assault on the First Amendment".

Since his election, Trump has toyed with various means of curbing media access, ostensibly to remind journalists that they are, to some extent, at his mercy.

He routinely attacks the news media as "dishonest" and brands critical media outlets and reports as "fake news".

He has only given one solo press conference since becoming president, significantly fewer than his predecessors, although he does hold joint press conferences with foreign leaders and regularly responds to shouted questions from reporters before meetings and on the White House south lawn. According to them, the "liberal media's war" against the American president was as fierce during the first four months of 2018.
