Hospital chief Mohammed al-Sawmali says the groom and 45 of the wounded were brought to the local al-Jomhouri hospital.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said on Twitter that a hospital it supports in Hajjah received at least 40 patients wounded in the air strikes.

Many women and children among those killed in a wedding tent in Hajjah's Bani Qays district, medical official says. "Last night airstrikes were among the most devastating in the area in recent months", the MSF said.

The number of known casualties from Sunday's airstrikes is likely to increase as rescue operations continue, a spokesman for the Houthi-controlled Health Ministry, Abdel-Karim al-Kahlani, told dpa.

United Nations officials and rights groups accused the coalition of committing war crimes and of being responsible for most of the killings.

Saudi Arabia and the USA have so far managed to escape official blame for Yemen's humanitarian crisis by setting up a panel to investigate strikes that have killed civilians, which largely cleared the coalition of responsibility.

Yemen has been since March 25, 2015 under a brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition, which also includes UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Sudan and Kuwait, in a bid to restore power to fugitive former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.

The Yemen war has killed more than 10,000 people, displaced more than 2 million and driven the country to the verge of starvation, according to the United Nations.

The Saudi-led coalition blames the Houthi rebels, saying they are using civilians as human shields and hiding among the civilian population.
