Pep Guardiola calls for City fans' help in Manchester derby

Manchester United produced an incredible second-half comeback to beat rivals Manchester City 3-2 and leave them waiting for confirmation of the Premier League title after a thrilling game at the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City failed to cope with Liverpool's intense pressing and capitalized on any mistake that the league leaders made - with the first goal coming from a mistake by Leroy Sane where he mishit a long diagonal ball and another mistake by Kyle Walker who failed to clear the ball away from danger, allowing Muhammad Salah to continue his terrific season with a goal.

But with the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool to come on Tuesday, with City 3-0 down from the first, Guardiola says he would prefer an opponent less demanding than United.

Guardiola also suggested more protection should be given to team buses in general with this latest attack coming a year after a bomb attack on Borussia Dortmund's bus ahead of their Champions League quarter-final against Monaco.

"It's the first time we've lost two games in a row this season and now we have to recover and try again, go back to the basics and win games", said a frustrated Guardiola. "We have to accept it and now we have United at home and then Liverpool at home".

"We are going to have training and we are going to see his physical condition". "We have the permission to believe it".

"In November, December everybody said the Premier League is done. It would be wonderful, something different", he said.

That was a warning for an increasingly stretched United, whose keeper David De Gea soon had to make a good save to thwart Bernardo Silva.

After decades of living in United's shadow, City have changed the balance of power in Manchester firmly in their favour and are on the verge of their third title since 2012.

"Maybe it is not enough to win (on the) European level or the Premier League".

Kevin De Bruyne agreed with his compatriot saying.

Man City would need to put the attack behind him when they host the Reds for the second leg of the Champions League next Tuesday.

Now on 84 points, the leaders are chasing Chelsea's Premier League record tally of 95 points set in 2004-05.

"If they won they are champions, for all the fans it would be like death", added Pogba, who has had a mixed season.

There are always one or two players are more affected by this kind of result, for several reasons, and it seems that Gabriel Jesus was one of them this time.

"I believe a lot in this team", he said after Wednesday's match.

Yet making City wait for their place among the immortals would be some consolation for United, whose midfielder Juan Mata is well aware how important it is to show some pride.

When asked if conceding six goals in two games is a concern, the City boss referred to his side's overall defensive record this season: "We were the team with the fewest goals conceded. We have to stand up with our heads up and move forward". "That's what our fans deserve".
