President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan makes a speech as he attends the inauguration of governing Justice and Development (AK) Party's Politics Academy in Ankara, Turkey on March 09, 2018.

The Turkish military campaign succeeded in capturing three towns on Saturday, becoming thus in control of 221 towns and villages since the "Olive Branch" operation launched on January 20, the Observatory said.

The city of Manbij, also held by the YPG, was captured from ISIS in a joint US-Kurdish offensive.

Syria has slammed both Turkish and United States military activities on its soil as a violation of the Arab nation's sovereignty.

"We have established working groups for that", Mevlut Cavusoglu said in an interview with the German weekly Die Zeit on Friday. "Where there are terrorists, we'll be there", he added, referring to Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG). We will be in Manbij tomorrow.

When questioned as to what would happen if the Afrin operation did not end by May, Cavusoglu assured that Turkey was capable of conducting two campaigns simultaneously.

"The number of neutralized terrorists in Afrin has risen to 3,213".

Turkey's foreign minister said Ankara and Washington have established working groups to discuss the stabilization of Manbij and other Syrian cities east of the Euphrates.

"Now the centre of Afrin is surrounded and our entry is imminent", he said.

Qamishli is seen as the main town of the YPG-controlled region.

It says more than 200 civilians have also been killed, but Turkey denies the reports and says it takes the "utmost care" to avoid civilian casualties. "The target is to get 2,000 square kilometers under our control", Erdo─čan told a public rally in the southern Mersin province.

"Then we will ensure security there and send our [displaced] brothers of Afrin back to their homes".
