Ozil will - according to Bild - sign a new £305,000-a-week deal and spend at least the next two or three years at the Emirates Stadium.

Ozil's current contract situation allows him to talk to clubs outside England and agree a pre-contract, if not, he can wait until the summer to join a club of his choice on a free transfer. The news would mean a lot to Arsenal and its supporters, who have endured uncertainty surrounding the German's future for a few months now. Becomes highest-paid player in club history on around £350k per week before tax.

The deal, which was signed on Wednesday, follows months of speculation linking the former Real Madrid man with a summer exit.

Aside from Ozil's new contract, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has added Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng after losing Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United earlier this month.

Mesut Ozil has apparently seen Arsenal's statement of intent to contend for league and European titles in the future.

The now-former BVB attacker arrives at the Emirates on a club record fee having signed a long-term deal at the Emirates.

The arrival of the Gabon worldwide forward and the capture of Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of the Sanchez deal from United is said to have convinced Ozil to sign a new deal. The deal he signed then was to end its course, and thus making him available to talk to other clubs in January.
