Trump to WSJ: 'I Probably Have a Good Relationship' With NKorea's Kim

Report: Mattis And Tillerson Are Trying To Talk Trump Out Of Striking North Korea Commentary: President Trump is right to bully the enemies of America

President Trump perplexed political pundits when he boasted Thursday that he has "a very good relationship" with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, while in the same breath deriding his former right hand man Stephen Bannon as a traitor.

Trump claimed he has "a very good relationship" with North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un. "I have relationships with people". You don't have to look hard here to find people who are sure President Moon Jae-In is falling into a "trap" set by Kim to ensnare him into more or less having to accede to whatever he wants, beginning with the breakup of the U.S. -ROK alliance.

The president declined to say whether he had spoken with Kim, telling The Journal: "I'm not saying I have or haven't".

Kim, on the other hand, has charged that he would "tame the mentally deranged USA dotard with fire", referring to Trump.

In it, he made two major points: first, North Korea's quest to develop nuclear weapons capable of reaching the US had been successfully completed; second Pyongyang was willing to talk with Seoul about taking part in the Winter Olympic Games the South is hosting this year. In short, the situation with North Korea--and Trump's bombastic approach to it--has led to a boom in business for Jones. "I just don't want to comment", adding that his attitude towards North Korea is intentional and part of a broader goal.

Hawaii, which has taken big steps to prepare for a nuclear attack from North Korea in recent months, has been the prime market for Jones.

In a new open letter to members of Congress, seventeen former nuclear launch officers issue a grave warning regarding President Trump's unfettered access to nuclear weapons, declaring that the current US nuclear launch process "poses a clear and present danger to the country and the world: No one - not the secretary of defense, not the attorney general, not Congress - can veto that order".

Chun, who lives just 35 miles from the border with North Korea, said that the United States would face a series of extreme challenges should they decide to go to war. Multiple outlets have also reported that the Trump administration is debating the possibility of pursuing a "bloody nose" strategy - a first, targeted strike to deter North Korea from proceeding with its weapons testing.

In the past, he has called talks with the North a waste of time.

North and South Korea held their first talks in two years on Tuesday. On the Korean peninsula, Kim Jong-un has once again reinforced his growing nuclear weapons capability and apparent willingness to make nuclear threats.

"The president has made very clear that were going to do everything we can to do that in a way that doesn't involve military action", Pompeo said, "but has equally made clear that we're not going to stand for allowing Kim Jong Un to hold Los Angeles, or Denver, or NY at risk".
