EngineerJames Damore's memo, which was leaked this fall, criticized Google's "left leaning" culture and attempted to argue that women in engineering were paid less than men due to their biological differences, not because of hiring practices.
Last August, Google fired engineer James Damore for penning a memo (more of a 3,300-word screeching manifesto) that argued against workplace diversity, which he claimed was damaging to political conservatives, who he said are consequently afraid to speak their minds.
"Google's management goes to extreme - and illegal - lengths to encourage hiring managers to take protected categories such as race and/or gender into consideration as determinative hiring factors, to the detriment of Caucasian and male employees and potential employees at Google", the suit reads.
In a class actionlawsuit against Google filed Monday in Santa Clara Superior Court in Northern California, Damore and another former Google engineer, David Gudeman, argue that Google has an "open hostility for conservative thought". Earlier this month, four women plaintiffs as part of a revised lawsuit, alleged that the company had asked for their prior salaries and had underpaid them compared to their male counterparts.
It alleges that Google singles out and punish employees like Damore who expressed views that don't align with how the majority of employees at the tech firm feel about politics and diversity efforts.
"Google's under-leveling of women not only resulted in Google paying them lower base salaries than if they had been properly leveled, but also resulted in Google paying them smaller bonuses and fewer stock units and options than if Google had placed them in the proper level", that lawsuit says, according to Associated Press.

Newton took a hard hit in the fourth quarter in which he claimed his helmet came down over his eyes and hurt his right eye. If the concussion protocol was not properly followed the team is subject to discipline, including a $150,000 fine.
If that changes by June or if we sit down and talk about it, we may sign players in certain positions. Gareth Bale scored twice to give Real the lead after Celta had taken the lead through Daniel Wass.
But Newton, Carolina's leading rusher this season, didn't run much in two losses to New Orleans, gaining 67 yards on nine carries. When Newton is accurate, efficient and can extend plays and create yards with his legs, the Panthers can beat anybody.
