Cleveland Browns finish 2017 season 0-16

Browns begin to process winless season, hope for better days Cleveland Browns finish 2017 season 0-16
Beatrice Douglas | 01 January, 2018, 04:31

Regardless of if Cleveland wins or not on Sunday their head coach Hue Jackson has already agreed to jump into Lake Erie being as he promised that his team wouldn't go 1-15 again this year.

In their place, players who have become regulars on the inactive list this season will finally get another chance to dress on gameday.

Here we are at 0-15 for the second time in two seasons.

But on the ensuing kickoff, JuJu Smith-Schuster returned the kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown to put the Steelers ahead 28-21.

Despite this one last chance to avoid the dreaded 0-16 and cancel the "Perfect Season Parade" scheduled for January 6, coach Hue Jackson hasn't lined up anyone special for an emotional "win one for the Gipper" speech.

"I feel like the talent in this locker room might not be enough to win the Super Bowl this year, but it's far more talented than 0-16", McCourty said. Most coaches would have won more than one game in Jackson's shoes, and it's doubtful any of them would have so consistently and publicly tried to absolve himself of blame. "I think I'm just the guy to do it".

"No, I'm going to give that pep talk, " he said. "You guys ask a lot of questions about it and you ignore it as much as you can, but it's here".

In that way, maybe Jackson is right that nobody could have done what he did over the last two years.

Rookie safety Jabrill Peppers wasn't around past year, and isn't beaten down by 0-15. I'm like, 'Man, I just can't get that feeling back.' You want that feeling of winning and you want that chance.

DeShone Kizer dropped back and looked to Corey Coleman. "It just - damn all that", Mitchell said.

"I know I had a couple of upset friends, but I don't really remember any of the details of that team, " he said.

These young assets have shown flashes, but all played their part during a season that saw the roster crumble in key moments while Jackson offered up a litany of baffling in-game coaching decisions. The overwhelmed Kizer led the league in turnovers for an offense that lacked identity from wire to wire and made life easy for opponents. "I can talk about a play or so I didn't make in college and still keep in mind to this day".

Colts 22, Texans 13: Jacoby Brissett threw for one touchdown and Marlon Mack ran for another score as host Indianapolis (4-12) beat Houston (4-12), which lost its last six games and finished last in the AFC South.

"Have you come to grips with the possibility of going 0-16?"
