Back at WWDC 2017 in June, Apple teased us with the iMac Pro, its most powerful desktop yet.

While on the surface the iMac Pro might seem like just a very souped up version of the regular iMac, it appears that Apple was serious when they said that they were designing it for professionals. Previous rumors suggested the 18th of December which is Monday of next week.

The iMac Pro has a memory storage of up to 128GB and up to 4TB SSD storage. Apple is offering "ballpark prices" for configurations, although no figures have been offered other than the already known $4,999 entry price.

The iMac Pro uses AMD's Radeon Pro Vega 56 GPU, which comes with 8 GB of HDM2 memory, as the baseline. Brownlee also notes that the iMac Pro worked well on Final Cut Pro X tasks that would typically choke another iMac.

Schiller also told T3 that the team behind the iMac Pro was dedicated to creating a computer "truly designed for pros", and promised that the new machine "inside, is a different computer" from the last generation of iMacs. The Thunderbolt ports are joined by a smattering of USB 3.0 Type-A connectors, audio jacks, a card reader, and a 10-Gigabit Ethernet port. The iMac shown in the video happens to be a 10-core iMac Pro and if you want to get your hands on the14-core or the 18-core, you'll have to wait until the next year. And that will never be more true than at the system's launch - Apple does not tend to discount its own hardware over time to keep pace with price erosion for the individual components, meaning its systems tend to be the absolute best value when they first hit the market.

In terms of design, the iMac Pro coms with a space grey enclosure, and in the product box, you'll find an included space grey Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic Trackpad 2.

Either way, the new iMac Pro is here.
