All the communications from Nintendo and from Nvidia have been targeted specifically for Chinese customers. In an unprecedented collaboration for Nintendo, it's working with Nvidia to port a selection of Wii and GameCube games to the Android-powered Shield TV for today's release in China. You can play them in 1080p too.

The Shield itself will retail for RMB 1,499 (£169) in the country, while the Nintendo titles will sell for RMB 68 (£7.67) each.

There's more video of NSMB in action here.

Extending the business relationship that brought NVIDIA technology to Nintendo Switch, some of Nintendo's most beloved Wii and Nintendo GameCube titles are officially headed to China for the first time. Now we'll be those limits pushed even further with new games from Nintendo, at least in China anyway.

Nintendo, a Japanese consumer electronics company, announced it partnership with NVIDIA to launch Wii and GameCube games for Nvidia Shield only in the Chinese market. The Shield is the only Android TV device with any kind of market share right now. Now, according to a report from Nintendo Wire, the Shield TV will soon pick up certain Wii titles.

Some of the company's older games from the discontinued Wii console will appear on the Nvidia Shield console in China. The latter two companies previously worked together in bringing the Nintendo Switch to life using the Nvidia Tegra processing chip to handle the device. Just look at Kellogg's Super Mario Cereal. It has been created to work with Baidu's DuerOS conversational artificial intelligence (AI) system and entertainment options from IQIYI. However, it has experimented with mobile games such as Super Mario Run and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
