When Tiger Woods tees up next year he will be at an age at which few have dominated, but that will not stop the PGA Tour hype machine and others from promoting his appearance with an implied suggestion Tiger 2.0 will be as good as the previous version which won 14 major championships between 1997 and 2008.

His eight-under-par total was good enough to beat world No.1 Dustin Johnson, FedEx Cup victor and world No. 3 Justin Thomas and US Open champion Brooks Koepka and it lifted Woods from 1,199th to 668th in the world golf rankings. Woods was able to post scores of 69-68-75-68, and while the course wasn't as hard as typical championship venues on the PGA Tour, three under par rounds is certainly a positive step for Woods. Fowler entered the final round seven shots behind Charley Hoffman, but shot 61 to win by four.

"I've got to be honest, I really like the way Tiger is swinging the club", Harmon wrote. He added three birdies on the back nine but closed poorly, with bogeys on the final two holes.

"If he continues along this way, the one thing I learned from my 10 years with Tiger is never say never with Tiger Woods".

As far as his next tournament is concerned, Woods has not yet made a public commitment. It was also his first tournament since undergoing a fourth back surgery in April. Toxicology reports revealed a plethora of prescription drugs in his system at the time of the arrest, including pain killers.

Fowler was in a class of his own in a scintillating exhibition, birdying the first seven holes and surging into a two-shot lead by going out in 28. 1-7 - in his bogey-free round, leading him to victory in the 18-player field.

Jordan Spieth, tied for second to start the round, fired a final-round 69 to share third with England's Tommy Fleetwood, who signed for a 67. Woods beat current World No. 1 Dustin Johnson by eight shots.
